About Us
Green Team:
Brain Injury Services is committed to environmental awareness to help secure a healthy future for our clients and staff. Through learning, sharing and practicing we continue to march ahead in our ongoing efforts to be “green”.
By implementing environmentally-friendly practices Brain Injury Services strives to:
|
 |
- role model earth-affirmative actions for our clients
- operate cost effectively by using energy wisely
- acknowledge our corporate responsibility to greening the community
- carry green practices beyond the operation of the agency and into our own homes
Here are some of the highlights of recent environmental awareness initiatives:
- 2009 Environmental Challenge - Resulted in a 40% energy reduction by the winning residential service
- Collection of unused toiletries and gently-used clothing (Donated to Sir John A. MacDonald’s “Walk-in Closet” program for inner city students)
- Implementation of green bins in all residential services and offices
- Implementation of reusable shopping bags and trundle buggies in all residential services and offices
- Replaced bottled water and foam cups with water coolers and filtered water in all residential services and offices
- Lunch and Learn: Tips and Tricks for Greener World and the very well-received video “The Story of Stuff” with Annie Leonard (Annie Leonard is the author and host of The Story of Stuff, a fast paced, fact filled expose on the hidden environmental and social costs of current systems of production and consumption. Many more initiatives are on the way!
Check back in October for a bunch of fun DIY Christmas projects including “brownies in a jar” (Start saving your spaghetti sauce jars now!), recycling last year’s Christmas cards into this year’s cards and gift tags, and environmentally friendly gift wrapping ideas!
Hug a tree, kiss the sky!
Keep it clean - You know why!
