emotional or other crises.

Each year staff at Brain Injury Services of Hamilton, Haldimand-Norfolk, Niagara (BISH) work collaboratively with McMaster University students to conduct research related to the effects of living with an acquired brain injury. Brain Injury Services independently conducts innovative research programs to assess best practices in programming and develops associated outcome measures which are shared with our community partners.

Questions- (for professionals)

  1. What sets Brain Injury Services apart from other ABI Rehabilitation programs?

Brain Injury Services is able to provide a transition of services not otherwise available. We provide a range of ABI rehabilitation services from individuals with complex behavioural needs through to semi independent living in addition to outreach community support and group services.

  2. I already have a team of regulated health professionals working with the participant, I don’t want to disrupt these dynamics.

Brain Injury Services works with the existing team members to provide the most appropriate rehabilitation services. If required, we can co-ordinate additional assessments to compliment the existing team.

  3. The individual has limited medical/ rehabilitation funds remaining through their automobile insurer. If they are admitted to a residential service, will they automatically flip to Ministry funding when the funds expire?

No. We will ensure their name is placed on the appropriate waiting list for Ministry funding.
