DUDLEY GOES TO THE LIBRARY

Tanya has been volunteering with Brain Injury Services since December 2006 supporting our partnership with the Central Hamilton Public Library’s very successful Paws for Reading program for children with literacy challenges.

Her partner in this volunteer position has been a 12 year-old named Dudley, a sweet-natured Golden Retriever and for years Dudley has been amusing everyone in the Children’s Department with his goofy greeting woooooos. Everyone always knew when Dudley had arrived and everyone was always glad that he was there!

Dudley was retired in May 2009 and, while BIS is very sorry to see him go, we all understand that advancing arthritis and major changes in accessibility at the library while they undergo renovations, have made Tanya’s difficult decision necessary.

Tanya wrote a terrific little story to help the children understand the reasons for his retirement and to let them know that they, also, would be missed! Click here to read Dudley’s story.
