Are you interested in connecting with your community? Career exploration? Resume-building? Volunteering with Brain Injury Services / Step Up! ABI Recovery can help you meet all those objectives!
Various physical reactivation and social/recreational positions are available within our service area of Hamilton, Niagara, Burlington, Brantford, Haldimand and Norfolk.
Current Volunteer Opportunities may be found on Kijiji Hamilton or Kijiji St. Catharines (Enter “Brain Injury Services” in the search box), or you may complete our online application and we’ll contact you with information about opportunities in your area that may match your interests and availability.
Volunteers receive one-on-one orientation and support from the case facilitator working directly with the client. Each volunteer also completes a number of online training modules covering topics from the causes and effects of acquired brain injury to collaborative problem solving. This helps ensure they are well-prepared to provide valued recreational rehabilitation. Volunteers will receive a certificate once the modules are successfully completed.
Time commitments vary from an hour to 10 hours a week and we make every effort to ensure the activity suits the interests and schedule of the volunteers as well as the clients!
