The Role of Volunteers:

Whether you are looking for a challenge, personal development or career advancement, volunteering at Brain Injury Services of Hamilton will help you to meet those goals. Volunteers assist staff to provide rehabilitation services and support to Brain Injury Services clients. Time commitments vary form an hour a week to 10 hours a week and with we will make every effort to set up a visit time that suit your volunteer schedule. There is a 90 minute mandatory training session at Brain Injury Services which covers a number of topics including: Acquired Brain Injury (ABI)

Volunteer Risks and Hazards; Infection Prevention and Control; Confidentiality; and the Rules. (Reviewing the Rules will give you a snapshot of the main requirements of volunteering at BIS. Go to the Rules)

Some volunteer positions may require specialised training such as first aid or crisis prevention. If this training is required for your position it will be provided to you at no cost to you.
